Ryanair extends Leeds services

Budget airline Ryanair has announced six new routes from Leeds Bradford International Airport, which will create around 60 new travel jobs.

The Irish airline revealed its plans following the introduction of a third aircraft at a cost of £70 million.

As a result of these new travel jobs being introduced Ryanair will be sustaining 900 jobs in the region.

Speaking at a press conference, Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary revealed that next summer the airline will service routes to Tenerife, Milan, Crete, Kos, Dinard and Corfu.

As a result the airline will travel on 26 routes out of the airport and it will also expand its Riga and Kaunas services from next summer.

Mr O'Leary revealed that the new changes are expected to see the number of passengers using Ryanair at the airport almost reach one million.

He also heaped praise on the airport's efficiency and said Ryanair was thrilled to extend its relationship with the region.

"Leeds Bradford is one of the real gems for economic growth, tourism growth and job creation here in the North East," he said.

"Ryanair is very proud of our very successful partnership with Leeds Bradford."
