Report reveals 2012 travel trends

Business travel  specialist Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has published its Travel Management Priorities for 2012 report, which predicts the year's trends for the travel industry.

After quizzing 290 travel managers across the globe, CWT concluded that this year's top priorities for the industry are to focus on promoting savings on air and ground transport, improve travel compliance, maximise spending in hotels and optimise online transactions.

In order to achieve these objectives, travel managers will seek to improve travel policy and compliance communication, improve employees' knowledge of online booking practices and authorise the use of preferred suppliers.

Nick Vournakis, Global CWT Solutions Group vice-president, said: "We are expecting the travel spend to be even more complex in 2012 - additional fees, surcharges and credit card booking fees charged by airlines and other suppliers are making it very difficult for buyers to efficiently and accurately compare the full cost of travel between suppliers."
