New airport terminal for Antigua
Antigua is to get a new 45 million dollar terminal at the VC Bird International airport, in a move that will help create thousands of jobs on the Caribbean island.
 
There has been an 11% rise in the number of holidaymakers from the UK flying to the resort this year alone, and a similar increase is expected next year as more flights heading there are planned by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
 
Proposals for the new airport were unveiled at the recent World Travel Market in London by Antigua's tourist board in a bid to expand the tropical island's market for travel and tourism.
      
 The present airport terminal, which lies just north of St John, struggles to manage the number of tourists visiting, said Antigua and Barbuda's tourism minister John Marginley.
