Marriott hotel to be built in Haiti

Marriott Hotel
Marriott International will open a $45 million hotel in Haiti in a move which will create 175 jobs as well as bring hospitality training investment to help local tourism.
 
The Port-au-Prince Marriott Hotel, which will contain 173 rooms and lead to travel jobs in the region.
      
Digicel Group Ltd, which is designing and building the hotel, chose the Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand as its operating partner under long-term management agreement.
 
Construction is due to begin next year and the hotel is scheduled to open in mid-2014. Marriott will open the hotel under management agreement with ownership group Unigestion, a subsidiary of Digicel. The hotel is seen as bringing much-needed lodging and meeting space for business travellers looking to invest in Haiti.
 
Other guests expected to use the hotel are non-government organizations (NGOs), humanitarian groups, reconstruction teams, financial institutions and visitors to the capital, Port-au-Prince.
