Style revamp for Marriott hotels

Courtyard by Marriott hotels are undergoing a style overhaul in a bid to increase their appeal across Europe.

Marriott International wants to increase its presence in the European travel and tourism market by tailoring its mid-range Courtyard by Marriott brand to European clients.

The 194-room Courtyard by Marriott Aberdeen and 230-room Courtyard by Marriott Cologne will be the first hotels to show off the new design, with an opening date of 2013.

Marriott International in Europe president and managing director Amy McPherson said European guests want good value to be complemented by fresh, simple, contemporary design.

Ms McPherson added that it was critical to adapt the brand to meet local tastes because more than two thirds (70%) of the company's European business is generated from within Europe.

She added: "We are confident the new European Courtyard model will be a major contributor to our goal of reaching 80,000 rooms in Europe by the end of 2015 and a real win-win for developers and guests alike."
