New Manchester-Washington flight

New Manchester-Washington flight
United Airlines will start a daily direct flight between Manchester and Washington DC from next May.

UA, which has operated from Manchester to New York Newark since 1995, aims to cut journey times between the north-west England airport and Washington.

A Continental Airlines Boeing 757-200 with 175 seats will be used for the service - comprising 16 seats in BusinessFirst and 159 in economy.

The announcement of the new service will be of interest to people looking for airline jobs. 

Bob Schumacher, UA's managing director UK & Ireland, said the new route will vastly increase options for travellers heading to spots throughout the Americas as well as reducing travel times between Manchester and Washington.

The airline's ability to keep offering an all-year daily service to New York while adding the Washington non-stop service shows how dedicated UA is to the North West, said Mr Schumacher.
