Leeds Bradford airport invests £11m

Leeds Bradford International Airport has announced it will invest £11 million to further improve its passenger terminal.

The airport plans to increase the size of its departure lounge and security zone. It is also to build a covered walkway to aircraft stands and overhaul its offer of shops and restaurants in a bid to attract more private and business travel.

Bridgepoint, the airport's private equity owner, backs the measures.

John Parkin, Leeds Bradford International Airport's chief executive, said: "It marks an important milestone in the development of Yorkshire's airport and our desire to provide the very best facilities for our rapidly growing numbers of customers and airlines.

"The broad economic conditions are challenging, but we are the UK's fastest growing regional airport and with the strong support of our shareholders, Bridgepoint, we are confident now is the time to invest in our future."
