Laterooms tops Google search chart
The most prominent hotel brand in terms of Google searches during the three months to August was laterooms.com, according to the most recent report from search experts Greenlight.

The website beat off competition from all of its competitors in the sector to finish top of the list of natural search results and that, combined with a strong performance in the paid search chart, meant it lead the way on the integrated search league table with 49% of the voice.

Rival website booking.com had the greatest share of the voice for paid search results and lastminute.com topped the table for social media presence thanks to its 14,800 followers on Twitter, 87,000 Facebook fans, a 2,400-string LinkedIn network and 25 videos uploaded on YouTube.

The results showed that there were two million hotel-related searches in June, July and August, with the term 'hotels' accounting for 14% of these.

The most common searches were generic terms, with 43%, domestic destinations accounted for 33% of searches while short-haul destinations accounted for 12%.

International travel-related searches for long haul destinations accounted for 11% of searches.
