Cook has new role at De Vere group

Cook has new role at De Vere group

A former managing director of De Vere Hotels is returning to the group in a major industry appointment for 2012, it has been announced.

The move will see Robert Cook leave his position at Hotel du Vin to take up the chief executive role at De Vere's Village Hotels brand.

Cook was managing director of De Vere from 2007 to 2008, but later became Hotel du Vin chief executive. His new role will also see him take up a seat on the executive board.

Gary Davis will make way for Cook after spending half a decade in the chief executive's seat. In other De Vere employment news, non-executive director Nicholas Bull will step into the role of non-executive chairman.

Group chief executive Andrew Coppel said: "It is excellent news that Robert is joining our team. He is highly respected within the UK hospitality industry. Given his wealth of operational experience, he will add significant value to De Vere Village in particular and to the group more generally."

Bull said: "With Robert Cook's appointment, Andrew has now put in place an outstanding management team and a robust operating structure.

"The focus now is on building a better De Vere and generating increased value for the benefit of all stakeholders."
