Chinese visitor resort for Wales

A planned holiday resort in Carmarthenshire, Wales would cater for wealthy Chinese tourists, with proposals for 100 beds in a luxury hotel and 80 holiday homes.

The Pantglas Estate resort, costed at £50 million, would be situated on the former county estate near Llandeilo. The news is good for travel jobs as around 70 posts could be created for the area with staff having to be familiar with Chinese customs.

Described by Tommy Li from developer Maxhard Ltd in the Daily Mail as "a luxurious development for a select international clientele looking to enjoy a tranquil Welsh retreat", the resort is aimed at attracting around 20,000 visitors annually.

Signs in English and Mandarin would be included in the development which "will deliver a new tourism concept to attract an international clientele," according to contractor Maxhard.

In 2010, the UK hosted more than 110,000 Chinese tourists who spent £184m.
