Back UK tourism, travel agents told

Back UK tourism, travel agents told

UK travel  agents have been urged by the Culture Secretary to get behind domestic tourism during this Olympic year.

Jeremy Hunt attended a 2012 tourism summit at which he said the travel industry should support the Olympics and the Paralympics and publicise events and attractions on home soil.

The 2012 Olympics are a major source of inspiration for those looking for travel jobs , with hordes of tourists preparing to descend upon the UK to watch events unfold.

The summit in London was also attended by VisitBritain chief Sandie Dawe and James Berresford of VisitEngland.

"Everyone loves going abroad for their holiday and we are not trying to stop people going abroad but this is the year when travel agents have the opportunity to promote what is going on at home," Hunt told TTG.
