Atkins takes up Superbreak role

Atkins takes on Superbreak role

A former travel firm managing director has chosen to return to the industry as sales director for Superbreak.

Jane Atkins, who was managing director at Freedom Travel Group and Future Travel, has decided to take up the new role at the short breaks operator.

Her decision to continue working in the sector could highlight the allure of travel jobs and influence others to seek opportunities in the industry.

Ms Atkins will begin working in the new position from January after previously leaving the board of Hays Travel after four months in October.

She will be tasked with managing all third party sales and distribution channels for retail travel agency sales, specialist, groups and new third party distribution channels.

Superbreak has also revealed that she will be "heavily involved" with new market opportunities, new product and new channel projects.

Managing director Eamonn Ferrin said: "Jane has significant expertise and experience across a broad range of travel sectors and product areas, including tour operations, retailing and home working services and will work with the senior team at Superbreak to help support and drive the future growth of our business."

In 1988 Ms Atkins began her travel career in the short breaks sector while working for Rainbow Holidays, before she moved to MyTravel, progressed and eventually became director of sales for UK tour operations and commercial director for the retail division at Going Places until 2007.
